MediaWise, in partnership with PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs, developed lesson plans for middle and high school teachers to use in the classroom. Each lesson features an “Is This Legit?” video created by our MediaWise Teen Fact-Checking Network. Lessons come with support material for teachers, discussion questions and activities that are aligned to state standards.
Tip
Deepfakes are synthetic media — AKA fake content — that are created using artificial intelligence. In deepfake videos, a person’s face is swapped with another to make it look like they said or did something they didn’t. Some clues that a video might be a deepfake include: eyes that don’t blink, skin that is blotchy, hair that doesn’t move and teeth that are undefined.
