Join Poynter faculty Kelly McBride and Fernanda Camarena and journalist guests to discuss Poynter’s recent report “Shut out: Strategies for good journalism when sources dismiss the press.” Journalists report a growing dynamic that many sources who in the past would have engaged with journalists, even if grudgingly, are refusing to do so. Some try to block public records and once-public events. At a symposium of the Craig Newmark Center for Ethics and Leadership, we gathered experts to identify strategies related to craft to help journalists continue to provide independent reporting to tell the public what they have a right to know.
